The Demand
The Quench-A-Tree system will allow the consumer to fill his Christmas tree with water and tree preservatives only once throughout a holiday season, or as we like to say, “Fill it and forget it.” The design is simple, consists of just a few parts and can be easily assembled in minutes. The outside appearance of the Quench-A-Tree system is that of a gift box one would receive during the holiday season. Inside the box is a collapsible bladder that holds 5.2 gallons of water and tree preservatives, and a small hose that joins the bladder to a patented valve. The patented valve will automatically regulate the level of water in the tree stand. The valve is installed easily and can be adjusted quickly.

One of the biggest problems with having a live Christmas tree is the maintenance of that tree. Most people that celebrate Christmas love the part of purchasing, setting up, and decorating. They love the smell of that fresh cut tree. This is why 36 million people purchase Christmas trees in the U.S. every year. The biggest problem with having a live Christmas tree is watering it. The tree stand is awkward to get to and fill. You can’t tell when the stand is empty or full. If you forget to water one day, the tree can run out of water, thus allowing the base of the tree to seal, causing the tree to die prematurely. That fresh cut smell goes away and the tree becomes a fire hazard.

This new product will eliminate the need for the consumer to have any worry about watering their tree on a daily basis. The Quench-A-Tree system will maintain a constant water level in the tree stand through the entire Christmas season. The tree base will not seal as quickly, the tree will last longer, smell fresh longer, and become much less likely to catch fire. The consumer will have more time to enjoy the short holiday season.

The Market

Our target market will be the 36,000,000 people that buy live Christmas trees nationally each year. We believe that everyone who purchases a live Christmas tree should have the opportunity to buy this revolutionary automatic system, which allows them more time to enjoy the holiday season without being consumed with the additional concern of watering their tree. Quench-A-Tree can save time, preserve the tree’s scent longer, enhance fire safety by preventing the tree from drying out, and provide peace of mind that the tree has been watered. We estimate that even with our late start, during our first year we will sell one percent of the potential market, amounting to three hundred sixty thousand units.

The Christmas tree and ornament industry is a billion dollar a year industry, with tree sales contributing to about three hundred million. There are over thirty six million trees sold each year and most of them are going to be placed in a stand that will require daily watering. The need for a convenient method of accomplishing this watering has gone unfilled until the development of Quench-A-Tree. Now there is an economical way to save time, worry and aggravation.

The Competition

There are only two competitors with a similar product. Neither can stand up to ours because they both have missing components; our patented valve and our patented collapsible, high capacity bladder. These two advantages make our product superior.

Other available valves cannot withstand a varying, unknown volume of water. Therefore a large bladder of water cannot be utilized with existing valves, because they leak. Our patented valve works with any volume of water, so container size does not impede its function. It will not leak! Competitive products have no valve, nor can they utilize our patented technology. The largest competitive unit only holds about 2.5 gallons of water and does not collapse, making shipping expensive and storage cumbersome.

Our patented bladder holds 5.2 gallons of water, is collapsible, and ships in a carton only 12”x12’x2 ½”. Our product can be attractively displayed on a peg hook, stacked on a shelf or fronted.
